This FO has a lot of depth. I get the smokiness but it's a pleasant smokiness and I pick up the citrus. There are other fragrances that I can't quite put my finger on but they all make a good combination. I can't say that it reminds me of Christmas but that's great because I renamed it something else and made it a winter candle. The CT is great and the HT is just good. Again, it's a subtle FO and not all candles are meant to punch you in the face (admittedly that's how I usually like them LOL). I use a 70/30 soy-paraffin blend (Freedom Soy) with an ECO-16 wick in a 10 oz Libby jar. Heated wax to 185 F and 14 day cure time of course. I am excited that I got a BW fragrance to work for me! To be honest, I haven't had a lot of luck with BW fragrance oils and I think that's because their fragrance oils just aren't compatible with my particular soy wax brand. Which is ok as I know a lot of other people really like using their oils.
This is a very nice fall/winter scent and it smells wonderful in soap. That said, if you're making CP soap, be prepared to move quickly. I soap fairly cool and was only going to use two colors, red and green, so I was ready ... I thought. Thankfully, I didn't put the fragrance in the red because, when I added the fragrance to the green base, it seized and riced up so badly there was no way I was going to do anything but plop it into the slab mold. Knowing it was already a disaster, I finished it off by pouring thin, red lines across the top. Well, the soap heated up so much that my red lines 'melted' and spread out. Now I have 8 lbs of soap that look like Peppermint Patty threw up on the Grinch. (Surprisingly, the soap itself didn't turn out too bad.) Next time, hot process ...
This sent is absolutely spectacular! It's comforting, yet bold, in the most wonderful way. It reminds me of the Christmas's long past and is the perfect fall and winter scent. I found this fragrance years ago and never want to be without it. There is no mistaking it for anything else. I confess that sometimes I just need to smell it to remind myself that it won't always be 100 degrees outside and that The Most Wonderful Time of The Year will eventually arrive. It's home and the small town gift shops, it's a fresh Christmas tree snuggled in the corner of a cozy cabin with the sound of a fire crackling in the background, sleighbells in the distance and wind blowing just outside the walls. Did I mention that this is my absolute favorite scent for the fall/winter?
Listen, I am not typically a selfish person, but I have been when it comes to reviewing this scent. I am afraid the more people know how perfect this fragrance is, the less availability there will be for me. ;) This is the absolute best Christmas fragrance I have ever smelled. It really doesn't even have to be reserved for the holiday season (I'm burning it in May). It is really beautiful. Strong CT and HT. (In 6006) It is strong, spicy, woodsy, and just perfect. It is more spice than woods for those wondering....almost a cranberry in there too.
I bought this scent to try in cold process soap. I really like the combination of scents, like spices, ciders, and fir trees...just a combination of what you imagine Christmas to smell like. I read other's ratings and saw that it does accelerate in soap, but thought I would give it a try anyway. So they are correct, it does accelerate within a minute, so no real designs when using this FO. However, the scent is nice enough to give it a whirl anyway, just try to work fast once you mix that scent in!
